The system is rigged,
We’re set up to fail;
There isn’t someone on the top,
If there isn’t someone on the bottom.

We’re asking for help,
We’re shouting about the cracks,
We’re begging for a life vest
As we drown under the waves of expectations.

But the cycle repeats.
Over.
And over.
And over again.

There’s always someone
Dewy-eyed or
Desperate enough
To take our place
If we break.

In a broken system,
Everyone loses.

But bruised and limping,
We carry on.
We’re trapped.

…do you want
to burn it all down
and rebuild it
with me?

Oh my, it seems that burning it all down and building it up never accomplishes what the original intent was. Interesting poem.

Yes, it is a very broken system, and should be burnt down. I'm afraid humans will argue incessantly about how to rebuild it, though, and I wonder if greed would just lead us back to the same places.

I wish the system could change too. So much unfair treatment, and I often feel trapped, because voting only does so much.

I'd like to say I'm team burn-it-all-down, but I'm not sure how to convince others that rebuilding in a compassionate way should be the focus. It certainly is pretty rough to constantly be forced to listen to the whims of billionaires while a lot of people can scarcely feed themselves.

Sometimes I want to burn it all down and start over - but in what image? There was a time when I thought that if everyone in the world just thought like me, the world would be a much better place, but I've moved past that kind of thinking. I wonder how much better things would be if we could all somehow return to smaller communities again, where like-minded individuals could "burn it down and rebuild" in a manner of their own choosing, and where individual communities decided not to just go harass other communities for no reason. This was a very thought-provoking piece; thank you!

And I do feel that way. What kind of world is there for most of us? We must work and work and work just to catch up, forget about any kind of luxury or getting ahead.

What kind of world or chance is there for my kids as they try to launch into their lives?
